The Zero Day Bombings are an event that occurs in Watch Dogs: Legion.

History[]

Prelude[]

After the events of Watch Dogs 2, the Blume Corporation launched CTOS 3.0, a new system that was widely adopted in Europe despite protests from some citizens. The Optik, a device that eliminated the need for mobile phones and served as a universal passport, was also released to the public, quickly becoming the norm. London converted a train station into the Technology of All Nations (TOAN) summit, which aimed to showcase the latest technological advancements. However, protests broke out as some people lost their jobs to AI robots that could perform tasks more efficiently than humans. Broca Tech unveiled a new version of the Black Cab, which was fully autonomous and caused traditional taxi drivers to become redundant.

Furthermore, the United Kingdom left the European Union without a deal, resulting in a plethora of problems. Construction began on Nine Elms Walkway, which would link the City of Westminster to Nine Elms, while the streets of London were plagued by Clan Kelley, a criminal organization. Additionally, Skye Larsen, a prominent AI researcher, converted four people into AI, and herself into a hologram, raising ethical questions about the limits of technology.

Operation Westminster[]

Some years later, DedSec was alerted about a potential bomb at the Palace of Westminster, and Dalton Wolfe was dispatched to investigate. Dalton successfully disarmed the bomb, but was subsequently warned of three other bombs at Earl's Court Station, King's College Hospital, and the TOAN Conference. While Dalton managed to stop the uplink, Zero Day, a previously unknown adversary, reactivated the bombs, causing widespread destruction across London and the eventual death of Wolfe via drones.

Aftermath[]

With London in ruins and a significant loss of life, the UK Government granted Albion, a private military corporation, permission to help restore order to the city. Albion set up checkpoints across the city and established their headquarters inside the Tower of London. DedSec, wrongly believed to be responsible for the bombings, was branded a terrorist organization by Albion and SIRS, the UK's intelligence agency, ordered members of DedSec to be hunted down, arrested, or killed.
