- â Woodland houses the largest Hispanic population within Oakland. It's named for the many orchards full of trees that dominated the area in the 1800s.â
- ―In-game description.
Woodland is a neighborhood and world location in Watch Dogs 2, based on the real-life neighborhood of Woodland while also being heavily influenced by the real-life Fruitvale neighborhood.
Location[]
Woodland is in the Downtown Oakland section of the city, bordering the neighborhood of Elmhurst and is east of the Blume Arena. It is serviced by the main highway as well as the long stretching boulevard that passes through Oakland.
Description[]
Like other parts of the district, Woodland is subject to poverty and crime; graffiti, abandoned houses, and gang members are not uncommon. Residential areas are run-down, though the neighborhood is showing signs of gentrification with numerous businesses, referencing the real-life revitalization of Fruitvale (including a Total Motors dealership). The demographics of the area are predominantly Hispanic/Latino and African-American, with some Asian and White residents being present as well.
As stated in the game, Woodland has the highest concentration of Hispanic/Latino residents in Oakland, an obvious nod to Fruitvale traditionally being the heart of Oakland's Latino community. The area has 8 restricted areas, and is mostly controlled by the 580s, but is also controlled by the Tezcas. Because of this, shootouts between the two gangs can occasionally happen.
