Background[]
The crossing over the Thames River dates back to the middle of the 19th century, with the current structure replacing the original subsided bridge in 1852. It is a seven arch, cast-iron bridge with Gothic detailing, painted green in reference to the colors of the seats in the British Parliament.
Layout[]
The bridge spans the two banks of the Thames between the County Hall and the Palace of Westminster.
