Third Degree Burns is a side mission in Watch Dogs: Legion. It is unlocked by interacting with a laptop in the Safehouse.
Plot[]
Safehouse[]
By hacking a laptop in the DedSec Safehouse, Hamish Bolaji states that Richard Malik gave him an audio recording, which he plays for the operative. The recording shows a woman talking to a man about her friend, a journalist, who has gone missing. The man states that he was unable to investigate the disappearance. Bagley suggests that the journalist may have been kidnapped by SIRS, as indicated in the recording. Bagley tracks the last known location of the journalist: Furzton Tower Block.
Furzton Tower Block[]
At the tower block, the operative looks around for clues that could possibly aid DedSec in finding the journalist. They find a set of tyre tracks, most likely left by a large vehicle such as a truck or van. They also find a security camera that has been spray-painted to block its view. As well as this, they find an unattended note pad, possibly the journalistâs. Text on the notepad shows that the journalist agreed to meet a SIRS officer in person, after they had started an investigation into SIRSâs authority. The operative then hacks a CTOS hub to access security footage from the security camera that was blacked out. An image can be seen showing a man spray painting the camera. Bagley claims that this confirms that the journalist was abducted by SIRS. To gain more knowledge on where they might have taken them, the operative speaks to Richard Malik. He says that the paint used to obscure the camera was military grade, called CARC paint, and that he installed a worm in Albion software that allowed him to listen in on Albion conversations. Bagley then says that by using Malikâs worm, he discovered that Albion had recently ordered a crate of the same CARC paint which was delivered to the Albion Internment Centre.
Albion Internment Centre[]
The operative arrives at the internment centre in hopes that this is where the kidnapped journalist is being held. After the operative removes the journalistâs handcuffs and escorts them to safety, they thank the operative for rescuing them but say they must get out of the country. However, the operative offers to help them with what they have discovered. They agree, and the journalist claim that SIRS found a legal loophole which allowed them to arrest anyone, for anything, and without a warrant. The DedSec operative then tells the journalist to go to the Safehouse and they will receive a new passport.
