Southwark Auto Conversions is a location in Watch Dogs: Legion.
Background[]
SAC is a high tech company specializing in converting regular vehicles into autonomous ones, on top of a broad range of other services, like body repair, air conditioning, and regular service tasks. Their main facility is located in Southwark, as the name suggests, and includes rail access to the main factory for expediting logistics. The company's services enjoyed explosive demand after London's aggressive campaign to convert private vehicles into ctOS-compatible autonomous cars: A Blume-supported PR push was followed by a campaign to encourage conversions with a combination of subsidies, government-funded retorfits, and tax credits for early adopters, before ending with outlawing non-autonomous vehicles and severe penalties for any holdouts.[1]
Under Albion, the facility was contracted to provide maintenance and enhancement of their specialized "riot vehicles" (military-grade vehicles that dominate London streets), according to strict corporate requirements and a contractual obligation to complete maintenance on any vehicle within 15 days. The latest mandatory upgrade is the S.U.02 microprocessor provided by Horizon Multinational.[2]
Layout[]
This industrial facility is built around the Southwark rail line, although the bulk of the facility is locked and inaccessible. The accessible part includes the conversion hall, the front courtyard, and the rear access road. The outside contains a paste-up and a tech point bundle (accessible through the ladders on the right or by cargo drone), and access points to the main hall in the form of the vehicle door (locked down with a closed circuit terminal on the northern side of the building), and personnel entrances on both the ground and upper level.
The interior hall has the conversion machines in the center, which double as rapid prototyping devices, overlooked by control rooms on the northern side (upstairs) and southern side (downstairs). Interior security is provided by Albion troops and an automated turret. The northern control room has two security scanners, which can be disabled by a terminal under the window overlooking the main chamber, and the sole text file. Just underneath it is a bay with an ETO safe.
The southern control room contains a sabotage opportunity that raises Southwark's defiance. This disables the auto-conversion facility and leads Bagley into a corny pun barrage.
When Darcy Clarkson is unlocked, Conversions will be the site of a Templar Bounty, rewarding the Templar Badge: Seneschal, belonging to the Templar Seneschal reviewing vehicle prototypes at the Southwark Auto Conversions facility.
