- ❝ The Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova is a Russian sniper rifle that's lightweight, and easy to use. Its rounds offer average penetration.❞
- ―In-game description
The SVD is a semi-automatic sniper rifle that appears in Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs 2.
Design[]
The sniper rifle's design comes from the Soviet/Russian Dragunov SVD. It comes complete with a large telescopic scope and a long, lightweight stock to ensure extreme precision over long ranges whilst maintaining high damage. The sniper rifle features a black plastic handguard, suggesting that the sniper rifle is a relatively recent model.
Performance[]
Watch Dogs[]
The magazines for this weapon hold ten 7.62×54mmR rounds each. The high-caliber rounds ensure one-hit kills and extreme accuracy, even over very long ranges. The rate of fire of the SVD is relatively medium. The rifle's scope is a fairly accurate copy of the real-life PSO-1 used on the real-life SVD.
Watch Dogs 2[]
The SVD has been somewhat downgraded in Watch Dogs 2, and now represents the most basic sniper in the game. The mag size has been decreased to an inaccurate six rounds, and the scope has been changed to the same generic crosshair used on all other scoped weapons. The weapon's damage is average, and it is not recommended that the player engage armored enemies or multiple enemies at close range with this rifle, as they will most likely be forced to reload mid-combat. Like other snipers, however, it can benefit from Marksmanship Skills research, and can kill any enemy with a single headshot. At $48,000, the weapon is a poor deal if purchased from the 3D Printer, with its range and stability outclassed by the Spear Phish Sniper, which ironically costs exactly half the price. To summarize, the SVD is the entry-level choice for ranged combat, but is far less competitive in contrast to other rifles.
Locations[]
Watch Dogs[]
- Gun stores (DB&R Weaponsmiths or Quid Pro Quo Guns), for $8,750.
- This weapon tends to be the weapon of choice for enemy snipers, such as Fixers.
Watch Dogs 2[]
- Used by Marksmen from every faction. Common at Restricted Areas across the game world, notably in Oakland.
- Can be purchased from the 3D Printer for $48,000.
Notable users[]
- Jordi uses a suppressed version of the SVD during the Not the Pizza Guy mission. However, the player cannot take or use it.
- Gang Helicopter Marksmen use SVDs to try and kill the player. The hits are very accurate, and can kill the player in two or three hits unless they swerve, even on foot.
- Police Marksmen aboard Helicopters in Watch Dogs 2 use the SVD when pursuing the player- however, it cannot be picked up from them.

Trivia[]
- The SVD is the only sniper rifle in Watch Dogs 2 that can be found in the game world, and at release was the only military-class sniper in the game until the AC-AR was added in a later update.
- "SVD" is short for "Snayperskaya Vintovka Dragunova," though this name is not used or referenced in-game.
