- ❝ This Japanese import features a rotary engine.❞
- ―Description in Watch Dogs.
The Sumitzu Auto Rotor is a two-door coupé that appears in Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs 2.
Design
The design of this car appears to be influenced by the Japanese styling of the 1992-2002 Mazda RX-7 for the greenhouse profile, sides and prominent rear spoiler. It is also powered by a rotary engine which also powers the Mazda RX-7. ST205 Toyota Celica for the rear. The front fascia may also be based on the Mitsubishi FTO. The headlights are also similar to those on the VeilSide RX-7, and 1995 Mitsubishi GTO, with a painted headlight interior.
In Watch Dogs, it seems that the Rotor always spawns in a rusty form, having a faded paint scheme, although clean versions occasionally spawns. This was rectified in Watch Dogs 2, where the vehicle no longer spawns with a faded paint scheme.
Performance
The car has excellent performance for its class, and is seen to be an overall good handling car. The car is powered by what appears to be a supercharged engine, placed in a front engine, rear wheel drive layout. The car has excellent acceleration, largely due to a supercharger found on the engine. It can take off the car pretty quickly, despite its traction limitations which can sometimes cause problems in cornering while acceleration, however, this can be solved in the hands of an expert driver. The car also has a high top speed, competing with other cars, such as the Sunrim, in terms of maintaining speed.
On the downside, the car is notably light in the rear, sometimes causing spin outs or oversteer when cornering, even seen notable at low speeds. Braking is also mediocre, which can also prove challenging in changing direction or reversing. Overall, the Rotor is a relatively good choice for performance, considering it's sometimes rare on the streets, it can be seen as a "well-worthy" choice of vehicle when it is found.
