Permadeath is an optional feature introduced in Watch Dogs: Legion.

Description[]

Permadeath functions as a hardcore mode. When it is enabled, if an operative is shot with lethal force, or they are too close to an explosion, then the player will lose that character and will be forced to switch operatives. This also applies to fall damage as well. If the player is down to one operative left, Bagley will warn them that if the operative is arrested, injured or killed, DedSec in London will fall.

If permadeath is turned off, operatives cannot die. But operatives with the Traits Doomed and Deathwish will still die if they have these traits. Instead, the operatives who do not have Doomed or Deathwish will become either arrested, or injured.

Trivia[]

  • In multiplayer, permadeath is disabled completely to prevent griefing.
  • Permadeath was originally the default feature, unable to be turned off. However, it was changed to be optional so the game could fit well for both casual and hardcore players.
  • In Resistance Mode, permadeath is turned on with no way to turn it off, and the mode is harder to keep operatives alive.
