Kaitlin Lau is a character in Watch Dogs: Legion.

Biography

Before Watch Dogs: Legion

Former Metropolitan Police inspector Kaitlin Lau became a private inspector following Albion's takeover of the New Scotland Yard. Because of the takeover, Katlin was afraid that her already cold case "Mary Kelley" would become a freezing dead case, as her ultimate goal was to put Mary Kelley away for life and shut down the criminal syndicate Clan Kelley in the process. She quit her job, taking some databases, computers and other equipment with her and fled to a small underground bunker somewhere in London. Lau continued to investigate Clan Kelley's operations and determine how to put an end to their operations. She planned to invade Clan Kelley and capture as many members as she could, and shut down the crime syndicate.

Events of Watch Dogs: Legion

However, Lau decided to go in alone, as she did not want to risk the lives of her colleagues. What she didn't know was that Mary Kelley knew for a long time that Kaitlin was coming to get her—how Mary find out never became clear, but according to her, she did not suspect her colleagues leaking information to Clan Kelley. As such, her heroic actions soon came to an end, as she was captured by Clan Kelley members. Clan Kelley decided that her fate was lying in unwilling organ "donation" rather than selling her at a slave auction. However, DedSec infiltrated Clan Kelley's headquarters in the mission Clan Kelley's New Export, broke in to the butchers room where Kaitlin was undergoing organ removing surgeon, and distracted the butcher, allowing Kaitlin to break free from the operating table and kill the butcher in the process. Lau was then escorted by a fellow DedSec member to a safe location, where she shared her casefiles and intel with DedSec. Lau worked with DedSec to plan another invasion—this time thanks to DedSec, taking a more technical rather than physical approach.

When the time came that the two had fully investigated and recorded all evidence they could, the mission Falling From Grace, AKA capture Mary Kelley, began. DedSec hacked into the Clan Kelley headquarters, took down any members that stood in their way and confronted Mary Kelley. Together, with Lau, a DedSec operative held Mary Kelley at gunpoint in a room filled with slaves some even obtained severe injuries. Mary was willing to get arrested and slowly approached the two, when a slave tried to knock Mary out, but was stopped in time by Kaitlin. Mary put her hands forward to get cuffed, smiling as she knew Albion would release her sooner than the blink of an eye. DedSec knew this as well, and informed Katlin, and she decided to let go of her ultimate goal: capture Mary alive. She signaled the slaves to attack Mary, and Mary was brutally murdered by the slaves. Lau told the DedSec operative to leave the headquarters as she would handle this situation herself. Later on, Kaitlin returned to the DedSec Safehouse, providing DedSec several side missions.
