Background[]

Guildhall is a municipal building in Moorgate, or rather, a complex of building centered around a 15th century guildhall, originally used for collecting taxes from merchants, before becoming a vital part of London administration. The Guildhall has been expanded to serve the City of London, including the 17th century church, the St Lawrence Jewry, the Guildhall Art Gallery, and a modernist West Wing erected in the 1970s.
