Fake News is Good News is DLC side mission in Watch Dogs: Legion. It is the second mission in the Not In Our Name chapter, and is only accessible by purchasing the game's season pass.
Plot[]
In the previous mission, DedSec discovered that a fake version of DedSec also operates in London, who leak scandals and spread negative information under DedSec’s name. The real DedSec gained intel about the fake DedSec by intruding into their hackerspace’s camera network and hacking a laptop. Bagley analyses the data and discovers that the fake DedSec got involved with a deceitful conspiracy blog named BigTruth, run by a man named James Brackton. Bagley sends the operative the location of BigTruth’s radio antennae. The operative hacks the antennae and retrieves its data. Bagley says that according to the data, fake DedSec, BigTruth and the Daily Post are all linked together and owned by a man named Rudolph Peck. However, he was not involved in the leaking of explicit images – that was all Bracken. It is clear that Peck has a strong disliking for DedSec, so in order to find out why, the operative travels to Lambeth palace to spy on a meeting between Bracken and Peck.
By hacking a CTOS hub at the palace, the operative is shown a feed of Bracken and Peck arguing about how the fake DedSec spread leaks over social media. Bracken also claims that he has bigger plans than to ruin celebrities’ profiles. Peck views Bracken as a liability to him, and threatens him with a handgun, before proceeding to shoot him twice, most likely killing him. After Peck leaves, the operative must neutralise him by possible means, either hospitalizing him or killing him. However, before DedSec can call their mission accomplished, Bagley suggests that they deal with the fake DedSec.
