❝ I've caused enough damage and hardship in my life, Jackson. This is a funeral, there's no getting around that.❞
❝Yeah, so say goodbye to the Fox, goodbye to Aiden Pearce the vigilante. Bury that guy. But don't tell me that's all you are. Because you're my uncle too.❞

Aiden and Jackson

Bury Your Dead is the tenth and penultimate story mission in Bloodline. It is the only mission where Jackson Pearce is playable in Bloodline.

Plot[]

Jackson enters Aiden's mind to try and wake him from his coma. Inside Aiden's mind, Jackson discovers the main setting to be his mother's house from Chicago. The house is adorned with orange, yellow and blue balloons, accompanied by birthday streamers, reminiscent of Jackson's 10th birthday party sixteen years ago.

Jackson tries to enter the house but to no avail. He checks the backyard and discovers Aiden there. He attempts to persuade Aiden to exit the simulation and wake up, but Aiden refuses, insisting that he is still working on something. Aiden implores Jackson to help him with a few tasks, which is to get Aiden's phone, ball cap and coat. As Jackson searches for the phone, he recalls past memories of living in the house, as well as time spent with his sister Lena. When he goes back into the house to retrieve Aiden's ball cap, he discovers the house in a trashed state, with paint peeling off the walls and trash all over the floor. Suddenly, he hears the giggles of Lena and follows them, curious as to why his deceased sister was there. In order to do so, he has to enter the correct doors that lead to another room or hallway.

Lena then initiates a game of hide-and-seek; as Jackson continues on, he ponders as to what is happening. As Lena leads him further in, Jackson gets increasingly stressed and creeped out. Eventually, Jackson walks down a long staircase, where he hears a playback of the car accident from October 2012 that killed Lena. Upon entering the door at the end of the staircase, Jackson finds himself at the scene of the accident. He becomes increasingly distressed as it reminds him that the accident had given him post-traumatic stress disorder.

At the end of the tunnel, he finds his mother sitting on a bench. While talking with her, Nicole states that she was not able to move on from the incident and still placed blame on Aiden. Jackson knew this to be false as he had moved on from the incident with her, and comes to the realization that Aiden himself is the one that has not moved on and that Nicole could be representing Aiden's feelings. He then finds Aiden's ball cap in the rubble of one of the cars, being placed on one of the numerous stuffed toy lambs surrounding the car.

He returns to Aiden upstairs, where the latter is still digging a hole. Jackson attempts to persuade Aiden to leave once more, but Aiden still demands for his coat. Jackson enters the house again and discovers the interior had changed again, requiring him to solve puzzles to move onto the next area. Jackson finally reaches the main floor of the house, where he discovers numerous dead bodies wrapped in black bags in one of the room. As he continues to search, he comes across Aiden fatally shooting a person in the house. He realizes that Aiden is unable to escape the continuous loop, and searches for a way to interrupt it. He manages to break the cycle by taking the place of the person who was shot, forcing Aiden to withdraw his gun. Aiden then exits the room before vanishing, leaving his coat on the floor.

After retrieving the coat and returning to the backyard, Aiden thanks Jackson. He states that after his stint as The Fox, he has harbored feelings of intense guilt after having killed so many people, becoming tired of them. Jackson eventually persuades Aiden to bury his vigilante past and persona instead, reminding him that he is still family. After tossing his phone, ball cap and coat into the grave, Jackson covers the grave and he exits the simulation with Aiden.

In the real world, Aiden wakes up. Jackson and Wrench are relieved, while Skye Larsen is impressed with Jackson's participation and extends his college scholarship for another two years. Jackson helps to transfer Aiden to a wheelchair, with Aiden thanking Jackson one last time.
