Bernai Island is one of the City Hotspot locations found in Pawnee and is a landmark within Chicago in Watch Dogs. At the start of the game, Bernai Island hosts a CTOS Control Center, and as such, is surrounded by paranoid and hostile Blume security guards.

• Although there is no such micronation in real life Illinois, Bernai Island as a self-declared, family-founded, constitutional monarchy island country has resemblance to many micronations within or outside of the U.S., notably the Principality of Sealand.
• Its self-declared "sanction" on North Korea also may took inspiration from the Republic of Molossia, which self-declared to be at war with the former state of East Germany to this day.
